What is Hot Yoga

Hot yoga is essentially hatha yoga which incorporates balance strength and flexibility into form and movement while working in a heated environment. Hot Yoga is recommended for everyone, from first day beginners to advanced students. The tradition of this method is that everyone is practicing the same posture at different levels of ability, receiving the same benefits. There is an exact position for everyone at every level, which our trained instructors will help you find. Hot Yoga is our studios specialty.

Why the heat?

The room is heated to a warmer temperature to allow for the body to move deeper into postures, without the possibility of injury. It is 26 to 30 postures that are done in a systematic way (particular sequencing will vary) and your teacher will instruct you throughout. In hot yoga, the muscles will be stretched and contracted to improve circulation to the joints and ligaments. It is a holistic, whole body workout that is suitable for all levels.

Our Hot Yoga Classes:

Hot Yoga

Description: This is a traditional form of yoga teaching in that there are no levels and no competition. Your registered instructor will guide you through the learning process by giving you a variety of poses. You will be amazed at how quickly you will learn and how quickly your body will become more flexible, relaxed and able to move like you never have before! The yoga room is heated to allow the body to deeply release into stretches and positions while avoiding injury. Everyone is practicing the same posture at different levels of ability, receiving the same benefits from their efforts.

Hot Vinyasa

Description: Hot Vinyasa is a vigorous class, combining upper body strength, flexibility and cardio. It is designed for students of all levels seeking a challenge and a good sweat. This class incorporates Asanas (postures/poses) from the Hot Yoga lineage into a Vinyasa (continuous flow) style. This style of yoga is available to any new or seasoned student.

Safety Tips

Doing Hot Yoga is like running 5 miles. You must eat, drink and prepare for this kind of exercise by following these safety tips.

  • Sweating profusely causes dehydration. In order to prevent this, you must drink at least one 16oz. bottle of water through the first 40 minutes of class. Classes are 75 minutes long, so you must have (and drink) two 16 oz. bottles of water during the course of the class. Signs of dehydration are nausea, dizziness and weakness.
  • Take your time during your trial week to acclimate to the conditions of the hot room by lying down, going at your own pace (like walking in a marathon), and avoid raising your head up too quickly.
  • Eat properly about 60-90 minutes before class. Help yourself to the pretzels at the front desk.
